The unfortunate year of the back brace

Kaelie is a little trooper! Dance competition season this year was pretty scary. We had 3 competitions this year all pretty close together. About a month before the first competition, I picked up Kaelie early from dance because her hip was hurting and she could barely walk. We iced, soaked in epsom salts and she got a little better. She got through the first competition but it was painful. Her hip quit turning out and so we went to chiropracters and doctors who helped her get her hip unlocked through the Graston method. The 2nd competition was frustrating. I ended up taking her to the emergency room because she couldn't walk. A back x-ray came out normal and they told us to follow up with ortho if it didn't get better with rest. We went to hte hip ortho who told us to just rest. We missed the last competition, and totally went to physical therapy and doctors almost every day. It took thousands of dollars and 2 months to finally diagnose that she had 2 fractures in her L5 along with a disc bulge at L4. She wore a brace for 2 months and totally quit dancing. Life totally changed for Kaelie. She was one dedicated dancer who couldn't dance. Her attitude has been great. One dr. told her it may never heal and after that appointment when we got in the car she said " I don't care what that Dr. said, I'm going to heal." I just love her positive outlook! She missed the Headliner show at school along with her dance recital. Now...the brace is off and national dance competition is in 2 weeks. She had to give up all of her flexy dances and will be competing only 3 numbers. But she is doing well as we have been taking ballet classes for physical therapy and she is slowly getting back into the swing of her normal lifestyle...dancing all the time. Here's hoping she can dance to her hearts content again!!!

Crazy because Chris couldn't go!!! The day before we were leaving,as he was trying to print his boarding pass, he noticed his passport was expired. He drove to Miami on Sunday only to find out it would be impossible for a passport to be issued on this short notice...so while we were checking our baggage, Ty called his friend Matt who was just waking up for the day. He packed his suitcase and we bought his ticket at the last minute and he came instead of Chris. We had fun! It was such a great place...Playa Del Carmen 45 minutes from Cancun. But, the reason for the vacation was to have one last family great time before Ty heads to college! I truly missed that family connection time but it was still fun!

Go Storm! This is the first year the Storm has had more than 1 win!!! Ty had a great season until the second to last game he was sent to the emergency room with a dislocated shoulder. Surgery followed and once more he is on the road to recovery

The day after ADA National Dance competition, we took off on a road trip to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. We spent some time with Lee, and then Kaelie Connie and
Pam flew off to NYC so Kaelie could attend Pulse Dance convention! It was a great experience.
Nanette and Courtney rode the train in to the city to meet us and we had fun catching up with them after 10 years. Kaelie won a scholarship to go back next year! We spent time in Central Park,ate at alot of restraunts, and went to two broadway shows...In the Heights and Mamma Mia.

TY went to state for the 400 and 200. He placed 5th in the 400 with a 49.4!! We are so proud of him!!!!!

Kaelie was crowned at ADA regionals in Orlando as Dancer of the year for her solo Broken Wings. It's been bitter sweet for her. It's really an honor to win but it is not fun to deal with competition drama. She loves dancing and so much wants to follow her sister Jen's footsteps.
As titlist, she will be competing in nationals July 10. Of course on July 1 she broke a blood vessel in her heel and cannot put weight on her heel, so we'll see how she heals. We're hoping she can dance next week!!!

5th grade graduation campout

Kaelie graduated from 5th grade!!!!We went to celebrate with an overnight cabin campout at Fort Wilderness. Done in Disney style, we roasted marshmallows and watched the movie at the
campground with Chip n Dale. We swam in the pool and drove in golf carts to watch the fireworks! The girls were up until 4am and had a great time! All the moms did too!

Ty missed taking a SAT test to run in the Disney track meet. Against 32 teams, he came in 1st for the 400, 3rd for the 200 and Celebration came in 2nd in the 4x4. It was a great day.

Christmas day the kids met Santa on the Norwegian Sky Cruise ship and sailed away to the Bahamas! I got a few random pictures of everyone having a good time, but never once got us all together! We did have a great time...christmas caroling with the other passengers, eating and eating, going to the beach and Atlantis in Nassau, becoming Bahama Mamas with braids in our hair, going to the private island and then ending up at the Harbor Beach Marriott in Ft. Lauderdale for two nights. It was a fun time! Ry and Tori got picked to play the Newleywed game and told the whole ship their secrets! We disco danced with the whole crew!! It was just fun being together ! It made Christmas a little merrier for all!

The night before her birthday we decided to go to the Polynesian Hotel for dinner. When the power went out, we hopped on the Monorail and went to Magic Kingdom and bought seasons passes to disney! What a fun night! Then the next day since it was her birthday, we skipped the morning at school and went to the Flower and Garden festival at Epcot. Disney even gave her a $75.00 gift certificate to spend for her birthday. What an awesome Disney birthday!!

What a fun way to spend valentines day! We went to T-Rex Eats with the kids...the girls made necklaces and Boston made a flying dinosaur! Jen and Lance came to visit and since her birthday was new years eve we had cake a little late! It is always fun for everyone when Jen comes to visit! Just call Chris CAPTAIN CANNONBALL! He's earned a new title. 2009 has opened up some great opportunities for the Osorio Family. Chris is so happy to finally have a getaway in Florida. While we lived in Utah, Chris spent alot of time at his favorite place SUNDANCE. It was so beautiful and the mountains created such a beautiful place to go to relax and unwind. Now... Merrit Island will become his new Sundance and his new boat will provide the getaway. Dolphins and manatees surround the boat as he cruises the waterways! We are going to have some great fun this year. We also bought a condo on Merrit Island. Check out the sunset from our balcony.

We are so glad that Ryan and Tori stayed with us for Christmas! This is the first year we have not had the whole family here at Christmastime. I was pretty emotional when we opened Amy's gift and she had written us a special note telling us how much they loved us! It was the other grandparents turn for enjoying the Morris Clan! Also Jen an Lance spent Christmas in St. George with the Pendletons. Maybe next year we will all be together!

But i am glad to share such wonderful kids with their in-laws.

As he turns 55 we went boat shopping and of coarse his big gift was a wet suit. Kiteboarding and driving to the Bahamas in a boat are his next adventures as he begins to walk over the hill.

We went camping over the Thanksgiving break. I loved it because I got to bring the dogs. They had a blast. We had the most fun jumping on the beach, building a sandman, and eating tin foil dinners. Night time was filled with racoons,open eyes, and laughs as the mattresses deflated.

The trip home involved a flat tire on the bridge, but we still had fun just doing something different for a change and being together!

Ty's Flag Football Day with Celebrate Church

Ty scored two 50 yard touchdowns for Celebration High on Friday night and the next day played flag football from 9am until 7 pm. Today we found out he has done all this on a broken foot! He hurt it the first game of the season and just kept playing. Now he is out the rest of the season to heal for track.

Found the rock star makeover pis, you can see how involved Mazie is in our lives, especially Kaelies. This was the day before we noticed anything wrong with Mazie.

Right now she is in the hospital and the neurologist has found more than 1 spot on her brain being invaded by lymphoma. She was just twitching one morning and then I noticed her falling when on a walk. What we thought might be a spinal inury has turned out to be alot more serious and tomorrow morning I am waiting for more reults that will tell us if we can treat with chemotherapy. Mazie is just one of our kids and our hearts are broken. Please keep her in your prayers.

Recipe for Jambalaya

First brown Jimmy dean sausage with 1/2 cup purple onion. then add 3 cans of black-eyed peas.

Add a bay leaf, 1 Tablespoon os chili powder 3 Tablespoons of creole mustard and salt and pepper. Simmer 30 minutes and serve over brown rice.

This is so yummy!! It must be my southern roots but I loved this dish!! Try it, you'll like it!

Christmas eve

Christmas eve we went to Gaylord Palm for a buffet luncheon and after we went home to create gingerbread houses. We did them outside by the pool and of course mine wouldn't stay standing because the humidity made the house fall. I don't know why everyone elses house stood! we had lots of fun and it has become a tradition. It wouldn't be christmastime without that! Of course Ryan and Tori were not able to be here for that because they took off to Idaho on a ski trip. (They had a blast with Tori's family!)

Later we ate Pams famous white chili and Lance was spoofed by the farting salt and pepper shakers!
After we started a new tradition. In Germany it is a tradition to hide a pickle on the tree and the first one who finds it wins an extra gift. I bought a pickle ornament at the fun store that I work at in Celebration. (Market Street Gallery). We all opened our Christmas pajamas and when we got them on...we could look for the pickle. Ty found it and he won a set of farting salt and pepper shakers as well as a cold stone gift card.

We all spent the Saturday before christmas together. It started at the Yaucht Club with a fabulous breakfast. I loved the crab cakes eggs benedict!

After breakfast we rented the big bike and all 13 of us crammed on and christmas caroled as we pedaled around the boardwalk! It was great fun!

After we went to the jingle jam in downtown Celebration where Mitchell Musso and Keke Palmer performed. Then we went home for a nice holiday candlelight dinner.

Christmas 2007 Update

Chris continues to lead the Human Performance Institute. 2007 proved to be their best
year yet!!Each and every year we have been here in Orlando, it has grown every year. He loves his job and feels a real sense of mission carrying it out! Left he is pictured with his partners Jim & Jack.

Pam is freaking out about turning 50 this year, but keeps busy with Kaelie and Ty, working at the Market Street Gallery in Celebration, and loving the fun of being grandma to 3 and almost 4 special children. Nine years ago she was freaking out about being pregnant and thought her life was over when now she views it as the best thing that ever happened to her! Life is good! God knows what is best for all of us!

TY is in High School now. He started the year with an hour commute to Bishop Moore Catholic High School. He had the best football team experience ever but the whold family was hating the commute so we pulled out. Now he attends Celebration High School in town and has a big smile on his face. Life is more simple now and it has made a big difference for all of us. He is currently on the JV basketball team and will run track this spring. He will get his driving permit in April and we're all looking forward to that! His favorite thing to do now is wash the car just so he can back it out of the garage!

Kaelie is in third grade and is our happy little angel. We love th energy of goodness she brings to our family! She is following in Jens footsteps as she dances 10 hrs a week or more and loves every minute of it! She loves being an aunt at such an early age and is the best of friends with Avery & Boston. She loves it when Ryan & Tori comes to visit with Owen!

These are our dogs Spankie & Mazie! The middle picture shows them chasing turkeys down the street. One thing I love about Celebration is the forest right across the street where we have deer, boar, squirrels,racoons, opossums, moles, woodpeckers, eagles, and who knows what else. Alligators and otters are in the pond. It's beautiful here and we love the 80 degree weather!

As for Amy Ryan and Jen...they all have their own blog that you can click on and see what they're up to. I just love this new blogging thing if I could just get the hang of it! I'm still learning...but if any of you have a blog I'd love to share!!!! Love you all!!!!!Merry Christmas

December Decorating Time!

I am not quite done decorating the tree yet because I still have to rotate the new BIG red ornaments and add some ribbon but I quit for now since it took so long! ANYWAY i ADDED SOMETHING NEW THIS YEAR ! Do you see the Peace Hope and JOY that are great big on the tree? I wanted my tree to mean something so I took the santas off and added these words.

Why? Because they do have meaning for me at this holiday time. I think back to the time when I was just 8 yrs. old and my mom had passed away the Easter before Christmas. That Christmas my heart was yearning for the peace I so wanted to have, and a hope that I would find joy in this life as I tried so earnestly to understand why God had taken my mother away. Each year I had those same feelings and the peace would come in the little things like when I felt loved from my Dad and Grandma, when I danced to the Beatles music with my sister, or when I hugged my cat.

But...it took a few years before I was able to figure out the JOY that I knew God intended for me and everyone else on this earth. It happened at my High School Christmas Concert. Yep... Mrs. A was leading us in the HALLELUJAH CHORUS after we had just sung those moving Christmas songs like Still, Still, Still and Silent Night. (Wasn't it cool that a High school could put on a musical religious concert?) I am so greatful for that wonderful concert because it helped me find my peace and Great joy when as I sang, I developed in my soul a Love and understanding of the Savior and and a great appreciation for what He did for not only me,but all mankind. I just love Christmas because everyone can have the chance to take those special moments that come to reflect on the true meaning of life and feel the peace and joy that was meant for all of us. My HOPE is that each of you will have that special moment this season where you feel the Love of God and the Peace and Joy he meant for you as you grow to understand his greatest gift he freely gives to each one of us who seek. Happy Holidays to all!

The other picture is my new favorite Christmas decoration that I got at Market Street Gallery where I work in Celebration. It is an advent calendar that is musical when you open it! It is so fun for Kaelie to open it and find a fun suprise like webkin clothes, earrings, bubble bath or bookmarks ect. It counts down the 24 days before christmas so she opens one each day! She even got up an hour earlier today to open one!

Ty has a chocolate advent calendar that he likes instead!

thanksgiving 2007 ---Turkey day began with the 2nd annual kickball game. Osorios, Donnllys,Campbells, and Burgess families met at the baseball field and even the two year olds played! It was boys against girls and guess who won!! It doesn't matter! We all had fun trying anyway!

After kickball we had an awesome turkey dinner at the Osorio pool and then while the fun people played Bingo, others slept on the couch!

We are so thankful for friends and family!!! We count them as our most treasured blessings!!!
